What is cbm & why Ships use it ? 7

What is CBM ?
It is the volume of a cube with edges one metre in length.

Why Ships use CBM ?
CBM is used to calculate the volume for storage space available for cargo. It’s very vital that ships are able to know how much volume and weight in each piece of cargo as there are limits to how much weight a vessel may hold which is referred to as “Gross Weight”. CBM is also needed for operators so they can calculate the cargo space available for loads on board each vessel.
